Active mobility

Active mobility, be it on foot, by bike, or e-bike, is a key to a healthy lifestyle with many benefits for individual health (e.g. prevention of cancer through more exercise, but also fewer air pollution) on the one hand and for promoting a climate-friendly transport transition on the other. However, the question is how active mobility can be promoted. Within the framework of several collaborations (e.g., EHPS Innovative Initiative Grant), psychological, infrastructural, design, traffic-related, environmental, and social factors are to be assessed that are associated with cycling and/or pedelec usage, in order to derive intervention approaches for active mobility. In the sense of a living lab & real-world laboratory approach, qualitative and quantitative survey methods will be used in a participatory research style. Another focus is on walking and using the stairs instead of the elevator. Nudge interventions will be used to investigate their effectiveness in a university context.
