What's up

Within the scope of this project, media usage and leisure activities within families are to be investigated. Tablets, gaming consoles, or smartphones have become indispensable in the daily lives of our children. On one hand, they offer knowledge and entertainment, but on the other hand, they pose new challenges for parents:

  • What amount of media consumption is acceptable for children?
  • How can boundaries be effectively set for children, especially when parents and children have differing views on media consumption?
  • What attitudes do parents hold, and is there a compensation for media consumption through activities such as physical exercise?

Additionally, the project aims to determine the effects of electronic media usage just before bedtime on children's well-being. Through a 14-day diary study, the media consumption of children and the family's handling of it will be surveyed. Mothers and their children aged eleven to fourteen were interviewed.
