VR studies in our VR lab
In these projects, we are investigating the effects of phubbing (phone-snubbing), the disruptive use of smartphones in face-to-face interactions, on interpersonal processes and individual well-being. A series of experimental studies in the VR lab will test whether the Temporal Need-Threat Model of Ostracism (Williams, 2007, 2009) can be applied to the phubbing context. For this purpose, a VR environment was designed in which a virtual agent interacts with the participant. In addition to possible gender effects, the study also examines whether phubbing plays a role in the professional context.
